Meet Our Doctors

At Southern Eye Centers, we have an unwavering passion for eye care. It’s what we adore doing and what our family has been dedicated to for almost a century. Our legacy dates back to 1923 when Lacy Bordelon embarked on a four-day journey in his Model T to attend the University of California Berkeley, where he became a member of the inaugural class to earn a Certificate of Optometry. He returned to Alexandria, LA in 1925 and started practicing optometry in the back of the Schnack Jewelry Company. After 18 years, he established his own practice, paving the way for generations of optometrists to come.

For almost 100 years and through four generations, 10 members of our family have provided optometry services throughout Louisiana. With a combined experience of over 300 years, our family’s knowledge and expertise have been passed down from one generation to another, making us unparalleled in the field. We welcome you to our family and thank you for entrusting Southern Eye Centers with your eye health and vision care.

Dr. Ann H. Shaw

Optometrist

Dr. Ann Shaw earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Business from the University of Georgia while also completing pre-medical coursework. She received her Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn.

Dr. Shaw completed her internships at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington, D.C., and in Plano, Texas with Dr. Charles Shidlofsky, who specializes in vision care for autistic children and severely brain-damaged patients. After beginning practice, she attended Louisiana State University and earned a Master’s in Nutrition degree. She believes this degree is beneficial for her patients because nutritional research is currently proving there is a strong relationship between nutrition and eye health, especially with macular degeneration.
